Band recording

Up to 6 players at once in our live room, sight lines to the control desk and individual cue mixes — for indie, rock, jazz and funk.

Band playing together in the live room wearing headphones.

Band recording at Micracoriva feels like rehearsal, except every source is mic’d and an engineer watches balance and phase. The 36 m² live room sits beside the 21 m² control room; windows keep visual cues alive.

We have tracked bands in the Jordaan since 2019. Whether you want an EP across two days or one live single take, we align the plan with your setlist and studio experience. Budget tips are in planning band studio time.

How it works

  1. Pre-production

Share setlist, tempos and a rough demo. We decide what stays live and what suits overdubs. Book through contact; we respond within 1 business day.

  2. Line check

Drums on the riser, amps positioned and screened where needed, bass DI alongside the amp mic. Everyone gets a cue mix; we check phase on overheads and room mics.

  3. Live passes

We record full passes and flag favourites in the session. Vocals can be live or later in the vocal booth — we decide upfront to save time.

  4. Stems export

Per song we deliver multitrack WAV or an agreed stem set. Multitracks stay available 12 months; mix and master are separate services.

Which ensembles fit?

Up to 6 people: drums, bass, guitar, keys, vocals and one extra horn or percussion. Larger groups need overdub plans or a different venue. We focus on controlled articulation, not arena volume.

No label required: demos, supervised school bands and touring acts are all fine. Minimum age 16 for members signing contracts; younger groups with teacher or guardian approval.

Layout and acoustics

Wood floor, mixed absorption and diffusion — enough life for drums without muddy guitars. Amps are angled and baffled when possible. DI feeds run parallel to mics for mix flexibility.

Send photos of your usual drum layout in advance. We provide stands and a house snare but not every backline; agree who brings what.

Cue mixes and talkback

Each musician gets a custom mix: more click, less guitar, extra vocal in the cans. Talkback from the room mic keeps direction clear. Visual contact with the engineer helps count-ins.

Bring a click export or we build one in session. Playing without click is possible but edits get harder — be honest in the plan.

Prep and backline

Bring stage gear: guitars, bass, pedals, sticks. Amps can be yours or ours; confirm before load-in. Fresh strings and settled heads avoid mid-day surprises.

  • Setlist with order and desired takes per song
  • References for room tone you like
  • One decision-maker during the session

See band studio budget guide for realistic hours per song.

Deliverables

Default: folder per song with tracked WAV, 24-bit, up to 96 kHz unless agreed otherwise. Optional rough bounce for quick feedback. Channels are labelled clearly (kick in, snare top, bass DI, etc.).

Mixing happens in-house or you forward stems; see delivering stems for mix. Mastering follows approved mixes with up to 2 revision rounds unless quoted otherwise.

Unused hours may carry within 6 months per terms and conditions. Questions: 020 737 0284 or [email protected].

After the session

When the last take is done we confirm which songs are marked as finals and whether you want same-day export or a short break for file checks. Multitracks are organised by song and take; we avoid cryptic filenames because they slow down every later step in mixing. If you plan to hand material to an external mixer, mention it at booking so we include the extra minutes for a stem bounce in the quote.

Questions about unused time from a half-day block? Hours may carry within 6 months under terms and conditions. For a quick overview of all studio services, see services.

Excluded services

Hired session players, backline transport, hotels, publishing, artwork and music videos are outside recording rates. External producers are welcome with prior notice about roles and credit.

Retention of multitracks: privacy policy. Directions: Tram 13 or 17 to Westermarkt; about seven minutes on foot via Bloemgracht toward Goudsbloemstraat. From Amsterdam Centraal, bus 18 toward Slotervaart, get off at Haarlemmer Houttuinen, then five minutes walking..

FAQ

Can we track fully live?

Often yes for rock and jazz; live vocals suit some genres less than pop. We advise per song whether a later vocal session is cleaner.

May our producer attend?

Yes if the control room stays safe and comfortable. Send names when booking.

How loud can we play?

We work at sustainable levels for ears and neighbours. Extreme stage volume does not fit our room; we find a workable balance.

Do you include a rough mix?

A quick balance for feedback can happen if time remains in the block. A professional mix is a separate job with its own rate.

What if a member cancels?

Reschedule free within 7 days or continue with overdubs. See terms and conditions for cancellation detail.
