Vocal and speech recording

A 7 m² vocal booth, control-room sight lines and an engineer who listens take by take — in Amsterdam, by appointment.

Vocalist in the booth at the microphone with engineer behind glass.

At Micracoriva, Vocal and speech recording is about capturing a steady voice in a controlled room. Whether you are stacking harmonies, delivering rap in one breath or reading a campaign script, we start by listening before we hit record. The booth is isolated from the live room so you do not bleed drum bleed into the mic.

We are open Mon–Fri 10–20, Sat 11–18 at Goudsbloemstraat 73, 1015 JM Amsterdam. Bring only lyrics and a phone demo, or a finished instrumental — we match mic, level and headphone mix to your voice and the song either way.

How it works

  1. Brief

Send your schedule, references and files through contact. We reply within 1 business day with a proposal and confirm date and duration.

  2. Setup

In the booth we compare microphones, set pop filter and distance and build your personal cue mix. Allow fifteen to thirty minutes before the first usable take.

  3. Recording

We capture verses, hooks and overdubs on separate playlists with clear markers. Breaks are part of the process — tired vocals rarely print well.

  4. Handover

Depending on booked time we comp takes, tidy breaths where agreed and export WAV files. You receive a download link; we keep a copy for 12 months.

Who uses the vocal booth?

Singers and rappers preparing singles, producers tracking toplines, podcast hosts recording intros, actors doing ADR and bands adding backing vocals after a band session — the booth adapts to all of these. Many clients come from Amsterdam and nearby cities; you are equally welcome if you travel in.

The minimum age for unattended sessions is 16. Younger artists may attend with a guardian and written consent. Practical prep tips live in our vocal session prep guide.

Microphones and signal path

We route through 16 mic preamps and pick combinations that suit timbre and level. Condensers expose detail; dynamics help loud rap or close work. We monitor in the 21 m² control room and leave headroom for later mixing.

Default capture is up to 96 kHz; tell us if your project needs another rate. Delivery is 24-bit WAV aligned to your backing so you or an external mixer can import immediately.

Headphone mix and communication

You hear yourself clearly with adjustable balance between backing, click and optional comfort reverb that is not printed unless you ask. Glass to the control room keeps eye contact between takes.

Want feedback on pitch, timing or diction? Say so upfront. Some artists want technical support only; others want a second opinion — we follow your pace.

What to bring

Useful checklist:

  • Instrumental or stems as WAV, ideally without guide vocal
  • Lyrics, plus tempo and key if known
  • Two reference tracks whose vocal tone you like
  • Your own headphones if you prefer them
  • Water and a light snack; avoid very cold drinks right before recording

No backing yet? Bring a click or guitar demo so we can still set mic position. For voice-over: script with pronunciation notes and time codes if applicable.

Delivery formats and turnaround

After the session you receive clearly named WAV files per role (lead, dub, ad-lib). On request we also export the full session for Logic, Pro Tools or Reaper, or a rough monitor mix for listening on the go. Mixing and mastering are separate services and are not included in studio hours.

Comping and light edits within booked time are included. Heavier tuning or time editing is agreed in advance. Files remain on our servers for 12 months unless you request an extension.

Questions about how we handle your audio? See privacy policy. Directions: Tram 13 or 17 to Westermarkt; about seven minutes on foot via Bloemgracht toward Goudsbloemstraat. Hand-off to mix and master

Many vocals move to our in-house mix engineers in the same building. We label tracks consistently and can attach brief notes on dynamics. If you mix elsewhere, we deliver stems to common conventions; see delivering stems for mix when combining material from other sources.

After mix, mastering prepares releases for streaming. Loudness targets are agreed in that phase so the chain from booth to upload stays predictable.

FAQ

How many hours for one song?

For a three- to four-minute track with lead, doubles and a few ad-libs, most artists need two to four hours. A half day leaves room for extra titles or overdubs.

Can I bring my own DAW session?

Yes, if your laptop and interface work with our patch. We can also record on our systems and export the project afterward. Tell us the format in advance.

Do you offer tuning or pitch correction?

On request we apply discrete correction on chosen lines. We agree beforehand how natural or obvious the effect should be and whether it fits inside booked time.

What if I am ill on the session day?

Contact us via contact as soon as you can. Reschedule free within 7 days; after that, deposit and cancellation rules in terms and conditions apply.

Parking near the studio?

Street parking in the Jordaan is limited; many clients use public transport. Tram 13 or 17 to Westermarkt; about seven minutes on foot via Bloemgracht toward Goudsbloemstraat. From Amsterdam Centraal, bus 18 toward Slotervaart, get off at Haarlemmer Houttuinen, then five minutes walking. Ask us when booking if you need help unloading — we allow a few minutes at arrival.
